Suzuki Motorcycles India has launched the new Intruder 150 in India at Rs 98,340 (ex-Delhi). The new cruiser is a derivative Suzuki’s popular Gixxer 150 motorcycle and incorporates a few bits from the street naked. The engine, for instance, is the same, refined and torquey motor from the Gixxer. It produces 14.8PS at 8,000 rpm and 14Nm at 6,000rpm.
The Intruder 150 is 8kg heavier than the Gixxer and hence it has a larger airbox, bigger sprocket and a revised exhaust design. This is done to ensure the Suzuki Intruder 150 is quick to accelerate off-the line. Going up by one tooth on the rear sprocket, however, will drop the top speed, by a bit. The Intruder 150’s styling is inspired by the bigger capacity, Suzuki Intruder motorcycles. That said, the bulky body work may not be to everyone’s taste.
The Suzuki Intruder 150 goes up against the only other 150cc cruiser in the market, the Bajaj Avenger 150. The Bajaj Avenger is quite a popular motorcycle and, so far, has been unchallenged. Watch this space to find out if the new Suzuki Intruder 150 got what it takes to beat the Bajaj Avenger 150.

Suzuki has launched the new Intruder 150 at Rs 98,340 (ex-showroom, Delhi). As the name suggests, its design is inspired from the larger Intruder cruiser bikes. The bike’s design is dominated by the front cowl housing the big headlamp unit flanked by fuel tank extensions. The rear gets a large dual-barrel exhaust and bulky rear cowl. The Intruder 150 shares the Gixxer’s engine, frame, suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, but it’s been slightly modified to accommodate the cruiser styling. The front forks and rear monoshock have also been tweaked to suit the nature of the bike, and the swingarm is longer now.
Suzuki Intruder 150 Specifications:
The Intruder 150 is powered by the same 154.9cc air-cooled petrol engine seen on the Gixxer 150 but in a slightly different tune. It produces 14.14PS at 8000 rpm and 14Nm at 6000rpm. The motor has a slightly different state of tune owing to a larger air intake, airbox and tuned exhaust. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox borrowed from the Gixxer but with a larger rear sprocket for low-end performance. It has a fuel tank of 11 litres and weighs about 148kg, 8kg more than the Gixxer. Braking is done by disc brakes fitted at both ends.

Bajaj Avenger 150: The Avenger has been the only choice of people who are looking for an affordable cruiser from a long time. It is a value for money cruiser and is good for commuting in the city. The 150cc motor is torquey but could do with more power.
